Clinical Supervision

Amanda has been a BAPT approved Clinical Supervisor since 2020.  She is able to offer creative Clinical Supervision to qualified Play and Filial Therapists, who are working with children between 4 – 12 years old; she is equipped to support therapists who are still studying, through to experienced practitioners.  Amanda is particularly well placed to support those working with families who have experienced trauma.

As a member of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) and the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), Amanda adheres to both professional body’s Code of Ethics and best practice guidance for Clinical Supervision.

Amanda offers individual as well as group supervision sessions: ideally Clinical Supervision should be ‘in person’, however, where therapists are looking for specialised support or their geographical location makes this untenable, Amanda is happy to discuss offering virtual sessions.  Amanda has experience of offering Clinical Supervision within an organisational context.

The importance of the clinical supervision relationship cannot be overestimated and can be seen as our most valuable professional support mechanism.” (S. Kerr-Edwards, 2015)

Amanda aims to:

  • Provide a collaborative, ‘safe’ space for Supervisees to creatively reflect on their practice,
  • Enhanced Supervisee’s practice through the acquisition of practical skills and application of theories.
  • Facilitate greater Supervisee self-awareness within the client / therapist relationship.
  • Support and encourage Supervisee professional development.
  • Highlight Supervisee self-care and protection from vicarious traumatisation, compassion fatigue and burnout.
